  • Virtual production is a filmmaking methodology that uses real-time rendering technology — typically driven by game engines like Unreal Engine — to create photorealistic digital environments displayed on large LED screens during the shoot. Instead of traveling to a location or building physical sets, the production team shoots live actors and subjects in front of a high-resolution LED wall that displays a dynamic, parallax-correct background in real time. The camera sees a complete, believable world. So does the actor.

  • Green screen requires post-production compositing, which means the director, DP, and talent can’t see the final image on set. Lighting the subject to match the invisible background is guesswork. LED volume solves all three problems: the background is visible in real time, the environment physically lights the talent (called “practical LED lighting”), and the camera captures the composite natively. The result is more cinematic, faster in post, and far less expensive to finish.

  • Virtual production is a filmmaking technique that uses real-time computer graphics, camera tracking, and LED screens to display digital environments during filming. Using tools like Unreal Engine, it can reduce location costs and allow filmmakers to see visual effects in real time while shooting.

  • LED volume stages have been used for feature films (The Batman, Avatar: The Way of Water), streaming series (The Mandalorian — which pioneered the technology), commercials, automotive reveals, music videos, live events, corporate films, branded content, product launches, architectural visualization, training simulations, and XR (extended reality) experiences. The technology scales from indie micro-budget shoots to major studio productions.

  • SHOTCALLER operates in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, putting world-class virtual production capabilities within reach of the entire DFW production ecosystem — from agencies on the Tollway to production companies in Deep Ellum, Uptown, and beyond.
